Never-ending fun awaits the children at St. John’s Primary Academy.
Transforming the way children play by creating a natural and educational play environment, this playground design has everything a child could dream of.
Working alongside the St. Johns team, together, we created this unique and fulfilling playground that will entertain early years children for years to come.
Inclusive of colour, water and adventure, there is something for everyone here!
To begin with, we took out an existing fallen clamber tree, and removed some older timber resources, replacing them with new. Keeping only an existing shelter and playhouse.
We also installed all new surfacing, including artificial grass, real grass, stone bound resin, and block paving.
Not only are these surfacing options durable, making them suitable for endless outdoor play opportunities, but they also add a variety of colour and textures to the space.
Using a selection of different surfacing options is a great way to section the playground into different categories. For example, block paving has been used within the messy play area.
The staff of St Johns wanted to make sure that the children had a variety of play to choose from in their new space, so we incorporated timber play resources to fit each type of play.
Ranging from water play, messy play, construction play, role play and more. We also added a number of storage solutions, ensuring that the teachers and pupils would be left with plenty of space to store their playground equipment.
As well as resources, we also installed a water play stream and a coloured shelter. Both of which offer endless educational opportunities for the children.
To improve the general appearance of this playground, we added bespoke timber fencing in front of an existing building, to match the theme of the new, natural playground design.
To complete the playground, we added lots of freestanding resources such as digging pits, mud kitchens, seating, storage etc.
