Kids Planet, Prestwich has had a major glow-up!
Newby Leisure has completely transformed their outdoor area into an adventurous space to encourage outdoor education.
Including elements of risk and challenge, nature, messy play, physical play and many others, the nursery children will enjoy hours of outdoor fun!
Incorporating sand into an early years setting is fantastic for the development of gross and fine motor skills.
Children love to play in sand, especially in groups of friends. That’s why we decided to include a giant, bespoke sandpit with a PVC cover.
Sand play is essential for developing large muscle skills as children dig, pour, sift, and scoop.
A brilliant way to encourage physical activity at play time!
Sectioned off into different zones using a variety of surfacing options, a barked area is utilised as a messy play space for the toddlers.
A bespoke mud kitchen and nature table sits in the barked corner, creating a fantastic area to engage in messy, nature play.
With a rustic, timber bridge leading up to this area, children are able to undertake risk and challenge as they clamber, climb and crawl across the bridge to reach their destination. Developing their full body strength whilst doing so!
With a tunnel situated underneath the bridge, this can be used as the perfect hiding spot during a game of hide and seek!
When designing this natural play environment alongside the Kids Planet members, it was priority to include soft surfaces due to it being a nursery.
The majority of the space is covered with artificial grass, meaning toddlers and babies can crawl freely without hurting their knees!
Not only is it safe, but it also looks great and generates a natural look and feel to the space.
Designed with longevity in mind, block paving has also been used in certain areas.
This natural playground design is packed with fun and adventure.
There are many elements involved that allow the Kids of Kids Planet to develop in all areas as they play.
Physical ability will increase as the children climb the fallen tree and walk up and down the steps of the bridge.
Imagination and creativity will spark in the messy play areas, using the timber play resources provided. Kids will love generating mud pies and potions for their friends!
Outdoor storage is also featured in this mystical play space, encouraging the little ones to maintain a tidy playground.
There isn't much that this outdoor, educational environment is missing!
