Creative Playground Renovation to Inspire Early Years Education - Springwood Nursery, Leeds

Early years education is now at it's peak at Springwood Nursery!

Newby Leisure has recently had the pleasure of working alongside the wonderful staff and children of this Leeds nursery to completely transform their outdoor area.

A beautiful, brand-new space for children to play outside and enhance their education whilst doing so.

Consisting of natural, timber resources that tick every box when it comes to including all kinds of play. The children will be occupied for hours!

Water Play Corner

An essential for any school or nursery, the staff of Springwood wanted to include a water stream to encourage water play.

Teachers can incorporate the stream and water play chutes into lesson time as they allow children to test the different speeds and fluidity of the water – a great science experiment!

Water play is fantastic for developing hand-eye coordination and increasing concentration on focus. Designed with longevity in mind, Newby Leisure’s play stream is perfect for play time.

Both enjoyable, and educational!

Clamber Stack for Physical Enhancement

Set into a sizeable space of artificial grass, a clamber stack has been installed in the centre of the playground.

The children can fully immerse in all types of outdoor learning as they clamber, climb and slide on this robust apparatus.

Building on full-body muscle strength, teachers can add the clamber stack to their weekly curriculum, making P.E. lessons super exciting!

This fabulous climbing structure is the future of physical play for the nursery.

Centre of Creations

The kids of Springwood Nursery can allow their imaginations to run wild as they head to the centre of the playground, where they can find a Painting Window, Weaving Panel and Freestanding Chalkboard.

Patterns can be weaved; marks can be made, and letters can be written allowing the children to establish gross and fine motor skills, as well as improving their literacy and language!

Not forgetting to mention the Coloured Teepee that also centralises the play area, Springwood Nursery now has the perfect location for storytelling.

Directly opposite the teepee is a small, barked area, inclusive of a Woodcutter’s Cottage and timber stools. A perfect spot for the little ones to engage in role play activities with friends.

Springwood Kitchen

Every nursery needs a mud kitchen, right?

Designed to spark creativity and imagination, the messy play corner includes a Messy Corner Kitchen, Messy Play Towers, Mini Bug Hotel, Sandpit, planters, and a Three Tier Storage Unit.

A versatile place to play with timber play resources, keeping multiple children entertained all day as they create mud pies and potions.

Growing social interaction skills as they play, children can get used to playing as part of a team!

A bespoke archway is situated at the entrance of this play zone, sectioning it off from the rest of the playground.
