After returning to The British School of Barcelona in sunny Sitges for two weeks, the Newby team managed to completely transform their primary school playground.
We had the pleasure of returning to this wonderful school to undertake further works and create a dream space for outdoor education.
To do this, we removed all existing surfaces and replaced it with durable, weather friendly, safety surfacing.
When visiting in previous years, we installed a variety of timber play resources, which are still in great use and condition today!
This year, the staff of BSB wanted to incorporate more aspects of water play, so we installed a water wall and a set of water play chutes.
A slide and climbing net have also been incorporated, encouraging the children to build their body and muscle strength as they engage in physical play activities on the playground.
Not forgetting to mention the large, bespoke sandpit featuring a heavy duty, PVC cover. This will enable the little ones to develop their fine motor skills as they sift, scoop, and mold the sand.
This play area now consists of water play, role play, creative/imaginative play, physical play, and messy/construction play. Plenty of options to keep all children entertained throughout the day!
Travelling through the centre of the entire area, lays an earth mix, wet pour surface path. This surfacing is great for the hot climate.
The pathway breaks up each side of the playground, both sides completed with artificial grass, making the entire play space suitable for outdoor play all year round.
Laid with care and attention to detail, artificial grass has been used to brighten up the space, creating a natural look and feel.
It is the perfect surfacing for areas that will be used intensively over the years.
Block paving has also been utilised at one end of the area, to separate the water play zone from the rest of the playground.
