Natural Play - Great Denham Primary School

Creative play is now at the epicenter of Great Denham's playtime as the school become proud owners of this natural play area.

Having designed breakout areas indoors for the school, Newby Leisure returned to Bedford to take playtime proceedings outdoors ready for the new school term.

Being presented with a blank canvas is perfect for Newby Leisure to get creative and design a playground with a few exciting twists!

A unique approach to playground design is always at the forefront of our minds when collating ideas and developing plans to present to schools. With natural timber play equipment used on many of our schemes, we aim to mix this with natural colours of green and earth. Continuing the theme throughout, the end goal is to present a playground that will allow children to learn through play.

Artificial Grass

Artificial grass was the safer surfacing chosen for the internal part of the shelter. It gives a natural look and feel to any playground setting.

We provide artificial grass in areas that are intensively used, resulting in the look and feel of natural grass that will withstand the test of time.

Clamber Stack

Including a clamber stack to an outdoor play area is a great way to boost a child's physical ability.

Giving children the opportunity to clamber, crawl and explore will help develop their social, creative and educational skills. This is why we have allowed this playground to be open ended, but also have points of action for the children to learn.

For example, we have included our H Shaped Water Wall for children to gather around and develop fine motor skills, communication skills and stimulate their creative imaginations.

Planters have been included to allow a green fingered generation to plant and pot, whilst the sandpit and cobbled beach will aid with exploration play.
