Long Toft Primary School is now the home of a fun-filled, natural playground design.
Filled to the brim with timber play resources, the educational benefits for early years are endless!
Starting from scratch, it was decided to take almost everything from the previous playground and replace it with new. New surfacing, new resources and more…
Incorporating exciting features such as a water play stream, bespoke bridge, barked area, and new fencing; this playground is not only fun, but also beautifully displayed.
With it being in an enclosed space, it was decided to break the area up into sections, using different types of surfacing.
Situated in the centre of the grounds, we have used both artificial grass and block paving to brighten up the area. In this space, you will find the water play stream; designed with longevity in mind to withstand the test of time.
The children of Long Toft will spend hours engaging in water play activities; boosting fine motor skills as they pump the water.
Part way through the stream, we added a timber bridge, allowing children to enhance their physical ability, whilst looking over at the water flow.
In the other sections, new pour and bark have been used for surfacing options, allowing the children to explore different textures.
Here at Newby Leisure we're keen on making our designs versatile and fulfilling in order to get the most from your outdoor area. This is why we have included a variety of resources, enabling children to engage in all genres of play.
For example, the barked area contains a Storytellers Throne, Toddler Stools, and a Sandpit with PVC Cover; meaning this corner can be utilised as a reading and sand play space.
Whereas underneath the existing shelter, we added a Play Fort and Reading Hide to encourage imaginative and creative play.
