Freestanding Playground Equipment for Early Years Development - Village Primary School, Stockton on Tees

Out with the old and in with the new!

This Stockton School is now the home of timber play resources.

Over the summer holidays, the Newby site team have worked their magic and given this primary school playground a glow up!

With new surfacing sweeping across the majority and a huge selection of Newby Leisure’s best-selling freestanding resources; these early years pupils have plenty to keep them entertained all day!

With aspects of role play, physical play, messy and construction play, children will have a tough decision to make when deciding what to play with first!

Safety Surfacing for Schools

Having the correct surfacing for your outdoor learning environment is extremely important for child safety.

As safety takes priority, when designing this project, it was decided to incorporate multiple surfacing options. This also allows the children to explore a variety of different textures.

Artificial grass being one of them, this is located in the areas that include physical play structures for a soft and cushioned fall.

Other surfacing used include block paving and new pour; both durable and ideal for children to play all year round without getting muddy!

Imaginative Play Space

Teachers can allow their pupils to engage in all kinds of play, particularly imaginative play.

Numerous freestanding resources in this outdoor play space will allow children to use their imagination to the best of their ability. Early years development has never been so much fun!

Children can bake and create mud pies and potions using their mud kitchen, or mark make on their freestanding chalkboard or painting window. Improving their fine motor skills and encouraging creative thinking whilst doing so.

Another fantastic feature is the timber stage, with a pergola roof and mounted chalkboard. This brilliant stage is a great way to boost social interaction on the playground!

There is so much fun that waits for the children to return to after summer!

Outdoor Nash Shelter

To allow outdoor play every day, it was decided to add a Nash shelter with a polycarbonate roof; meaning that the little ones can play outdoors, whatever the weather!

As well as being beneficial to keep the kids dry, the polycarbonate roof allows natural light to shine through, at the same time as protecting children from any harmful UV rays.
