Is Your Playground Ready For The New Term?

As if by magic, the summer holidays seem to have come and gone at super speed. Nothing new there, then. As is with every year, the children are back to school before you know it.

At Newby Leisure we know teachers hold a busy working schedule and spend hours of pre-planning for the new school year. You'll have many different things to consider with academia and no doubt be looking for the best options to make sure your school is successful in its educational approach.

One thing Newby Leisure (as you will know doubt be aware of) always champions is the importance of play and the massive educational benefits that go with it. We understand the pressure of the classroom environment and children craving the need to be free and escape on their breaks and dinner hours. This is why it's important for you to have peace of mind in the knowledge that they are playing in an area that's safe, educational and welcoming.

Our expertise of designing playgrounds goes back over 13 years and we're very pleased with the fantastic relationships we hold with schools around the UK. We're also very privileged to have worked on amazing projects that have helped children to be engaged, inspired and educated.

With the new term looming, we're hopeful you would have considered your outdoor play area is suitable for play and provides a fun and exciting opportunity for children to socialise. We know it can be daunting to think about playground accidents and the safety of children during play, so if you do have any questions on how to promote safe play, please feel free to ask us.

Tips for keeping your play area child friendly:

  • Always clear away any debris or items that may harm a child if they slip or fall.
  • Be sure to check your play area regularly in case of any damage (especially before new terms).
  • If your playground has rope items, check for fraying.
  • Have a certified expert inspect the playground.
  • Look out for any splinters or wood rot if they playground has been installed for a number of years.
  • Your school caretaker will be the best person to keep a close eye on the area, so it would be advisable to ask them if you're unsure.
