At the beginning of the year, Newby Leisure launched our first campaign - '150 Days of Play'.
The concept behind this campaign was to inspire play, therefore, we asked schools/nurseries/community groups/colleges/teachers and parents to send us one of the following:
A Blog (100 - 180 words) of a playtime experience.
A video (30 seconds max).
5 x Pictures of a play experience.
A drawing of a play experience.
These entries were picked at random to be uploaded to our social media sites in order to raise awareness for the importance of play for children.
We would like to thank everyone for showing interest in the project - you sent us some fantastic items and we're very grateful for your support.
As many of you will know, we feel strongly about both the physical and educational importance play brings to children and together, along with children’s charity KIDS, we wanted to kick-start 2015 with a campaign to reinforce this message.
Having over 13 years' specialist design and build experience, Newby Leisure understand the modern day challenges of keeping children active.
Over the duration of ‘150 Days of Play’ not only did we share the videos, photos and blogs, we also gave guidance on how children could make the most of their play time. Not just in school, but out of school too. We hope you found this useful.
Because of the vast tackles social media offers us, we thought it would be a good idea to try and shine a positive light on social platforms and get children to understand the benefits it can give. Looking back through the campaign, we feel we have definitely achieved this with the project being highlighted in national magazines such as Teach Nursery, Indoor Play and Home Childcarer.
KIDS and KIDS Strut have been a fantastic support along the way and we had an overwhelming number of schools show interest in the project. In fact, the support we received and opinions that were shared indicated to us that the desire for play is stronger than ever!
Two lucky winners also won a Newby Leisure Space Rocket for our #Newby150 competition. So congratulations to both Usworth Colliery Primary and The District CofE Primary schools. Further congratulations to Stimulating Learning with Rachel and Wyndham Park Nursery in winning our runner-up prize package too.
Because of the success of the campaign, we are already thinking-up plans for our next campaign later this year and you can be assured '150 Days of Play' will return in 2016!
